The Gap Starts Early:
Healthy habits begin long before a child's first major health problem.
For young children, learning to brush their teeth, wash their hands, recognize healthy choices, and understand why prevention matters can shape habits that last for years. Yet not every child begins with the same access to health education or basic hygiene supplies.
For families facing financial, language, transportation, or healthcare-access barriers, preventive health can become difficult to prioritize. A child may know they should brush their teeth, but may not have the supplies, guidance, or consistent reinforcement needed to turn that knowledge into a daily habit.
Health4NoVA saw an opportunity to intervene earlier.
Instead of waiting for a child to experience preventable health problems, we brought health education directly into the classroom.
From Information to Action:
A community campaign does not have to begin with a large organization or a large budget.
It can begin with a simple question: What does a child need to build a healthier habit?
Health4NoVA connected community need with corporate partnership, bringing together donated supplies, health education, and classroom outreach.
Health4NoVA is a youth-led initiative that relies on community collaboration to deliver health literacy and hygiene resources. We are incredibly grateful to the local Colgate-Palmolive sales representatives and local healthcare professionals who have generously donated healthcare supplies to support our community distribution efforts.

Hands-on learning
Students participated in age-appropriate oral health education designed to make preventive health understandable, engaging, and practical.
As Health4NoVA's Director of Dental Resources, William Pham helped lead the campaign's oral health education and community outreach.
His experience working in pediatric dental settings helped shape an approach focused on making oral health understandable to young children and practical for families.
Take-home tools
Students received essential hygiene supplies so they could continue practicing healthy habits beyond the classroom.
Because prevention starts before treatment.
Early childhood is an opportunity to introduce simple health behaviors while children are still developing their daily routines. By bringing education into schools and classrooms, Health4NoVA can reach children where they already learn, play, and build habits.
The goal isn't a one-time lesson.
It's to help make healthy behavior feel normal.
A Small Intervention Can Start a Lifelong Habit
A toothbrush is a small object.
A health lesson may take only a few minutes.
But when education and access come together early, those small interventions can become part of a child's everyday life.
Health4NoVA believes that improving community health means meeting people where they are, making health information understandable, and giving communities the tools to act.
The Preschool Health Campaign is one step toward that vision.
